The road to weight loss may be windy and may take a little longer than you expected.
But with the right tools and the right mindset you can enjoy and achieve better health.
Below are some awesome weight loss tips to help you stay on track during your journey to better health.

1. SET YOUR KITCHEN UP FOR SUCCESS
Prepare, prepare, prepare!
If you plan your weekly meals in advance, it’s so much easier to stay on track, and achieve weight loss.
Get your kitchen well-stocked with spare storage containers.
Load your pantry with the ingredients for healthy meal options.
Each week draw up a shopping list and create a menu plan for the week.
Or better yet, get your meal plans and shopping list drawn up by our Nutritionist Mark Kiss, and you’re good to go!

2. BE PREPARED WITH HEALTHY SNACK OPTIONS
Keep fast options handy.
You can grab them if you’re starving and tempted to eat the wrong thing.
Snacks like berries, carrot sticks with hummus dip, natural yoghurt, boiled eggs, tins of tuna/salmon, apples, raw nut/seed mix.

3. FOCUS ON YOUR ‘WHY?’
Have a strong, emotional connection to why you are exercising and eating well.
Weight loss needs to have an emotional centre.
This will help keep you focused, motivated and on the right track.
There may be some road bumps on your journey to health.
Always focus on your ‘why’, and how you will feel when you reach your goal.
This will keep you headed in the right direction.

4. MAKE TIME FOR SLEEP, REPAIR AND RECOVERY
Science supports the fact that if you don’t get enough sleep, you’re more likely to be overweight.
And it’s very hard to achieve weight loss.
Not to mention the importance it plays in proper rest and recovery.
If you’re tired, you’ll tend to overeat, crave unhealthy foods, and have a slow metabolism.

5. DISCOVER HEALTHY BEVERAGE ALTERNATIVES
Embrace herbal teas (especially green tea and peppermint tea)!
These can be enjoyed both hot and cold, acting to hydrate you and help you feel more satisfied.
There are many delicious options now available that are perfect for any palate.
Weight loss and herbal teas go hand in hand.

6. ENJOY YOUR MEALS
Eat foods YOU like.
Learn to cook foods YOU like,
Turn your old favourites into healthy new favourites with some simple food swaps.
Like an almond meal chicken parmi!
Spag bol with zuchinni noodles!
Do try new things, but make sure that you are enjoying what you eat, as you will be much more likely to stick to your diet.
Weight loss should be enjoyable and flavourful!

7. SCHEDULE IN EXERCISE SESSIONS
To transform ‘bad’ habits into new ones you need to add activities you enjoy and commit to your success.
The best way to do this is to schedule all your exercise sessions into your diary and make it a priority.
There will be times when you really don’t feel like it, but these are often the most important days to do it.
Remember your why!

8. ADD INCIDENTAL ACTIVITY
Walk whenever you can, stand at your desk and get up and move around as much as possible.
These incremental blocks of activity add up over a day and increase energy output.
They also help to prevent illnesses that are related to sitting for extended periods of time.
An added weight loss benefit!

9. BE MINDFUL
Remove distractions such as TV, phone and social media when eating.
Use this time to tune into your body; really listen to your body’s internal cues.
Pay attention to how different foods make you feel.
Understand your body’s natural rhythm and be completely present.

10. STAY POSITIVE
Remember, even smaller changes can be positive. Even though you may not be ‘perfect’, you are still improving your health and lifestyle.
If you ‘fall off the wagon’ and eat the wrong thing or have a bad day, all is not lost!
Don’t use it as an excuse for a total blow-out.
Reset, refocus and power on to your weight loss goals!
